Stopped by to break a $100 bill and ended up grabbing some snacks at this upscale bodega. The storefront and interior is clean, well-kept, and brightly lit. I noticed there was an organic produce section but I did not peruse. The two cashiers up front were very nice.

Pretty decent market. I stumbled into Brooklyn Born Mini Market as I was having brunch down the block and needed to grab a few items before I headed back home. There was a nice selection of fresh produce which was good as I needed a yellow onion. In addition to fresh produce, there were snacks organic and non-organic along with other cooking essentials. I will say everything was pretty expensive in comparison to a traditional supermarket and most items were not by the common brands we're used to. Oh

This place is THE gem of Crown Heights. There are so many novelty items here and many local brands. I went on Dec 24 in hopes of completing a nice tea set I was putting together for my Mom (yep, I am that New Yorker that pulls Xmas gifts together on Xmas Eve). I was looking for some of the digestive teas by Yogi. I was shocked to see that the selection was twice the size of Whole Foods (who I had visited the day before). And with much luck, the boxes were on sale at 2 for $7!! WFs cost $5 for one box! What a steal! And I walked out with the two flavors I went searching for :) They also have many other items that you could easily pull together for gifting. A nice cookie selection, organic/whole grains (there is a big Bob Red Mill selection), craft beers, local coffee beans, lots of peanut butters, cooking oils, jars of honey, a variety of cured meats, and many pickles (like McClure's). My roomies and I frequently stop in for Steve's ice cream, too. To top it all off, there are some amazing deals if you dig a bit. The staff is super friendly, too!
